ConXus Product Update: December 2009
This product update summarizes the 2009 ConXus upgrades and previews upgrades planned for 2010. As always, we appreciate your feedback and look forward to receiving your comments on our development plans. More detailed specifications and launch dates will be made available as we finalize each release.
Product Releases in 2009
In 2009, we focused on strengthening the support we provide to health coaches and administrators for program initiation, management, and reporting.
ConXus Direct
Client requests for additional tools to improve coach productivity and standardize care delivery, and market demand to support multiple modalities of coaching (on site, telephonic, and online), led to the development of ConXus Direct v2.0.
Launched in October, this upgrade represents a major enhancement to our health coach information and documentation system. New and enhanced features include:
A scheduling system that manages participant coaching sessions.
A configurable task management system for coaching activities.
An improved user interface that presents a unified participant profile.
More flexible assignment of participants to coaching groups and coaches.
Support for attachments to secure messages.
A library of new reports.
ConXus Administrator
A number of incremental upgrades were made to ConXus Administrator to provide enhanced reporting and data management capabilities.
For enhanced time-over-time reporting, data selection capabilities now support comparison of population, cohort, and matched cohort data. For greater flexibility in presentation, reports offer download of data to Excel for further analysis, in addition to print-friendly PDF versions.
Many employers are reluctant to change health risk assessment vendors because they do not want to lose their investment in historical data. To address this problem, we launched our third-party HRA data-load service in June. This service allows HRA data from another source to be loaded into the ConXus platform where it can be compared with current data collected using ConXus Profile. We have since successfully loaded data from a number of HRA vendors.
ConXus Profile
We began the year with the launch of ConXus Profile Short Form, designed for low-literacy groups and employers new to wellness. This option offers a shorter health risk assessment questionnaire and report that delivers all the functionality required to assess current health, but omits chronic and future disease risk assessments. The long- and short-form HRAs, available in English and Spanish, share the same database, allowing clients to mix and match versions while retaining aggregate data reporting capabilities.
Responding to client demand, we added a “Wellness Score” to ConXus Profile v2.4.1, released in September. The score is calculated from modifiable risk factors such as biometrics and lifestyle behaviors. To provide comparison to historical results, we calculated and stored a Wellness Score for existing HRAs for all prior versions of ConXus Profile.
In October, right in the middle of many open-enrollment periods, the draft final GINA regulations were released, containing severe restrictions on HRAs used in wellness programs. We responded immediately to client demand for a GINA-compliant HRA, releasing ConXus Profile v2.5 on November 1st, which was implemented at most client sites within 30 days.
ConXus Steps
In February, extending the options available within ConXus Steps, we launched action plans for Diabetes Prevention and Heart Disease Prevention.

Development Plans for 2010
For 2010, our focus turns to the participant-facing components of the ConXus platform.
ConXus Steps
A major upgrade to ConXus Steps is planned for the end of Q2.
Action plans will be enhanced by the addition of goal setting (by coach and participant), more directive navigation, improved trackers with targets, and greater interactivity within the lessons.
Challenges will be enhanced to allow configuration and deployment by client administrators and will add “team challenges.” By joining a team, participants will be able to track the progress of other team members, compare team performance to other teams, and view team rankings. We will support incentive awards for individual and team participation as well as milestones reached.
Events will be enhanced to allow configuration and deployment by client administrators.
Data Integration and ConXus Health
Throughout the course of 2010, we will work to enhance data integration among the ConXus product modules. The goal is to provide a unified participant profile that is independent of data source, using the health record as the longitudinal data record. We will focus on biometric data and preventive screenings, developing data-intelligence tools such as a patient dashboard and progress charts to drive behavior change.
Mobile Device Support
We will also take advantage of the reach and convenience offered by mobile devices. Participants will be able to receive reminders and notification messages via SMS text, in addition to email. Participants will also be able to access trackers used in action plans and challenges from a mobile-friendly web site that allows direct inline data entry.
