ConXus Connection v2.0: Challenges

Available: March 10, 2014

ConXus Connection v2.0 includes enhancements to support:

  • Fitness devices, for autologging steps from Fitbit®, Fitbug Orb®, Jawbone® UP™, BodyMedia® FIT, and the Moves app personal devices into standard activity challenges.
  • Preconfigured challenges, starting with the Mississippi River Challenge (activity) and the Lose for Health Challenge (weight loss).

Enhancements

1. Fitness Devices

ConXus Connection V2.0 supports autologging of steps collected from a range of popular personal fitness devices:

  • Fitbit devices (Zip™, One™, Flex™, and Force™)
  • Jawbone® UP™
  • Fitbug Orb®
  • BodyMedia® FIT

Once the device is registered with ConXus, step data is transferred automatically when the device is synched with the manufacturer’s app or website. The PDHI challenge activity tracker may be used to log other activities, such as swimming or cycling, where step counting is not a good indicator of activity level. All activities, including steps, are converted to aerobic miles to measure cumulative progress toward the next milestone.

2. Mississippi River Challenges

The Mississippi River Challenges is a preconfigured activity challenge that takes the user on a journey down the Mississippi River, from the peaceful headwaters of the northern Minnesota woods to the sweeping meanders of the river delta.

At each milestone along the journey, the user is presented with captivating images and can learn about the culture, history, and geography of the river. Incentive points can be assigned to milestones as part of the challenge configuration.

Personal, Individual, and Team Challenges

The Mississippi River Journey can be deployed to support three different challenge models:

Personal Challenges:

Allow each participant to start the challenge at any time, traveling at his/her own pace to reach the final milestone.

Corporate Challenges:

Have a defined start and end date, with all participants completing the journey at the same time.

  • An individual challenge measures each participant’s progress toward the next milestone.
  • A team challenge allows participants to form teams that compete against each other, measuring team average distance when determining progress.
