NEW YORK, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Group Health Incorporated (GHI) has announced that GHI will provide what is believed to be the first online Pediatric Health Risk Assessment (PHRA) in the nation offered by a health insurance plan. Effective November 9, 2007, all GHI members and their eligible dependents can access an on-line health survey for 6- to 12-year-olds. There is no charge to members for this service.
A health risk assessment is an online questionnaire that enables participants to become more knowledgeable about their current health status and potential health risks. In most instances, parents will fill out the PHRA with their children. Participants completing the PHRA will receive a personal wellness profile detailing their health risks and lifestyle behaviors, together with recommendations for improving their health.
Young people are increasingly susceptible to childhood obesity and its associated health complications, including diabetes. This assessment will look at a wide range of individual habits and behaviors, including nutrition and daily activities, to identify youngsters who may be at greater risk. Effecting positive lifestyle changes at an early age can impact an individual's health later in life.
GHI will use the ConXus Profile Pediatric, an assessment tool developed by Protocol Driven Healthcare (PDHI) Inc. PDHI is providing the application technology to support and deliver the health risk assessment for GHI, as well as aggregate reporting and administration support.
"GHI is committed to providing useful tools to our members so that they can take a more active role in managing the health of their family members in partnership with their physicians," said Frank Branchini, CEO of GHI. "GHI's Pediatric Health Risk Assessment is the latest demonstration of this commitment."
