About PDHI

Our Approach to AI

AI creates new opportunities to make health and wellness programs easier to manage and more intuitive to experience. As we add AI capabilities, our goal is to reduce administrative effort, help clients get more from their programs and data, and make it easier for members to find information and take the next step in their wellness journey.

Our Commitment
to Thoughtful AI

At PDHI, we believe AI should enhance human expertise, not replace human judgment. We use AI purposefully to improve our technology and operations, reduce administrative complexity, and create value for our clients and their members.

Because PDHI operates in healthcare, we design our use of AI around safeguards that protect protected health information (PHI) and client information, control access to data, maintain appropriate human oversight, and apply governance based on intended use and associated risk.

How We Apply AI

AI-Enabled Operations

PDHI uses AI to automate routine tasks, improve productivity, and increase organizational capacity for higher-value work.

Responsible AI in Product Development

We evaluate product initiatives to determine whether AI can create meaningful value for clients and members. AI-enabled capabilities are considered within defined governance and risk-management practices emphasizing security, privacy, compliance, and protection of PHI and client data.

Guiding Principles

As AI technologies and their associated risks evolve, PDHI will continue to review and refine its governance and safeguards.

1

Human Oversight

AI supports people rather than replacing appropriate human judgment. We maintain human oversight and accountability based on the intended use, potential impact, data involved, and level of risk.

2

Data Protection

We design AI capabilities to protect PHI, client data, and other sensitive information through the same security, privacy, and access controls that govern all PDHI systems, consistent with applicable HIPAA requirements. Our AI vendors are contractually prohibited from using our data to train their models.

3

Governance

AI initiatives are subject to governance, risk assessment, and oversight practices appropriate to their intended use and the data involved.

4

Transparency

We provide clients with appropriate information about AI-enabled product capabilities, including their intended purpose, safeguards, and relevant limitations.

5

Responsible Use

We apply AI purposefully, with consideration for privacy, security, accuracy, appropriate use, and potential risk.
